Korotnevella stella (Schaeffer, 1926) Goodkov, 1988

Korotnevella stella 1-5: locomotive; 6: cell in non-directed movement; 7: floating form; 8: nucleus (stained preparation); 9-10: cell coat. Scale bars: 1-7: 20 mkm; 8: 10 mkm; 9-10: 500nm

  • Locomotive form variable, usualy it is wider in the anterior part, sometimes it looks like an irregular triangle with anterior hyaline border. The cell forms numerous hyaline dactylopodia. No differentiated uroid. Length in locomotion 31-60 mkm (average 46 mkm), L/B about 1.5. Floating form of radial type, with several long, tapering hyaline pseudopoida.
  • Single nearly spherical nucleus, about 6 mkm in diameter, with central endosome about 3 mkm in diameter. One contractile vacuole. Vary small irregular cristals in the cytoplasm of some specimens only. No cysts found.
  • Cell coat includes bascet-like scales.
